PBNHS Art Contest

Congratulations To Our Winning Artists!

Each year, the Peninsula Committee Children’s Hospital (PCCH) hosts a competition where local South Bay artists vie for the opportunity to have their original artwork showcased in our promotional materials for the horse show. We refrain from influencing the artists’ creative process, instead encouraging them to express their personal interpretation of the event through their work. While many of the artists are familiar with the show, some draw inspirations from our website, while others tap into their own experiences with horses, riding, or competition. It’s always inspiring to see the diverse and imaginative ways each artist brings their vision to life.

The winning artwork is prominently displayed on our horse show poster, which appears in businesses and schools across the South Bay. It also graces the cover of our annual program and our patron invitations. Additionally, one of the winning designs is showcased on our commemorative pin, and all five winning pieces are featured in a beautifully crafted stationary set, available for purchase in our Haybale Boutique.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Lisa and Chuck Noski and the valued partnership with the Palos Verdes Art Center (PVAC), the contest is organized by Daniela Saxa-Kaneko, Executive Director of PVAC, who reaches out to our vibrant community of artists with a “call for entries.” This year, 31 submissions were received, and on May 6th, a reception was held at the PVAC where PCCH members had the opportunity to vote for their top five favorites.

The winners were announced and awarded cash prizes totaling $1,500. In addition, honoring the first-place winner Cindy Shue, a $1,500 donation was made to both the PVAC and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). Congratulations to Cindy, and a heartfelt thank you to Chuck and Lisa for their generous support for this special contest!
